In Situ Crankshaft Grinding

STEEL SURGERY SERVICES is based in INDIA and specializes in precision grinding crankshafts in situ for main engines and auxiliary generators.

Originally founded by Theofanis Batistas and was the first company of its kind to carry out in-situ machining and repairs on marine propulsion units such as diesel engines.

Crankshaft Repairs :

  • Through pre inspection of procedure and submission of report.
  • Calibration of Crankshaft
  • Hardness Test
  • Dye Penetrent Test, Magnatic Particle Test for surface and sub surface crack detection on site
  • Deflection and Trueness Test.

Based on the extent of damage and pre inspection report, appropriate procedures are defined like :

  • On site straightening by penning as per OEM standard .
  • Damaged fillet radius regrinds.
  • On site grinding of crankshaft maintain taper and ovelity as per OEM Specification i.e.0.02mm roundness and parallism.
  • Surfaces finish better than 0.30 um Ra
